2025 Season

  • All teams have 1 practice and 1 game per week; practice may become a game if a rainout occurs.
  • The full schedule and team draft will be released in late April/early May, and will be provided to you by your coach.
  • Game format for U10+ are standard fastpitch with minor changes to pitching distance and base lines.
  • All games for 11U and over are officiated by trained umpires, when available. We work under a policy of respect for all, which includes the umpires, and abuse of them by fans, players or coaches will not be tolerated.
  • All divisions end their seasons with an end-of-season windup, format to be determined once registration and scheduling has been completed.

Days of play - this is our planning stage and subject to change depending on when city confirms field permits 

Mondays and Wednesdays. -  Tball (6U) and 13U

Tuesday and Thursdays. - 8U, 11U and Junions (14+)

Season end dates and type of tournament to be determined once we get confirmation from city on field permits. 

Divisions

Please note that some age groups may be altered, based on registration numbers

For example, we will attempt to split 14U into 11 + 12 and 13 + 14, should the registration numbers make that possible!

6U - Ages 4, 5, 6 (players must play at least one year and most should do 2 years at this level)

  • One practice and one game each week. Practice may become a game if rainout occurs.
  • This division combines instructional content and activities with lots of FUN.
  • Teams are kept small to allow maximum involvement by everyone.
  • The ‘TIMBITS - Learn to Play’ program will be used for the practices, and game days will play 2 or 3 innings with all players batting using a tee.
  • All teams participate in the end-of-year windup.

Players are required to have their own batting helmets (with facecage) and glove.

 

8U - Ages 6, 7, 8

  • One practice and one game each week, practice may become a game if rainout occurs.
  • Features coach pitch. Each player is given 5 pitches to hit the ball.
  • All teams compete in the year end windup.

Players are required to have their own batting helmets (with facecage) and glove.

Faceguards (infielders mask) are required for all players.

Catchers equipment to be supplied.

11U Ages 9, 10, 11

  • One practice and one game each week, practice may become a game if rainout occurs.
  • Regulation fast-pitch softball, with minor changes to house league rules.
  • All teams compete in the end-of-year windup.

Players are required to have their own batting helmets (with facecage) and glove.

Cleats are allowed, but not required. Faceguards for pitchers and first base are suggested, but not required.

Face guards (infielders mask) are required for all players.

Catchers equipment to be supplied.

13U - Ages 12, 13

  • One practice and one game each week; practice may become game if rainout occurs.
  • Regulation fast-pitch softball, with minor changes to house league rules.
  • All teams compete in the end-of-year windup.

Players are required to have their own batting helmets (with facecage) and glove. Cleats are allowed, but not required.

Juniors - Ages 14+

  • One practice and one game each week, practice may become game if rainout occurs.

Other information

The OAFA has been providing a local softball experience since 1972.

We are a 100% volunteer run organization led by a board of directors, and funded through registration fees and generous community partners.

House league games are located with the boundaries of Orléans.

 

FAQ’s

 

  • Can my kids be on teams with their friends?

You are welcome to make one mutual friend requests in the relevant section of the registration form. While we are able to accommodate most friend requests, we do need to ensure proper distribution of pitchers, catchers, and gender parity.

Our first priority is to draft balanced rosters, therein we offer no guarentees that we can fulfill all friend requests to their full extent.

  • When does the season start?

The season is expected to start on May 13th.

* The season may be delayed if the City of Ottawa does not release the fields due to the condition of fields, excessive rain, etc. An announcement will be posted on our website.

  • When does the season end?

  • What nights are games and practices?

All House League games are scheduled from Monday through Thursday. The full schedule will be released early May, and will be provided to you by your coach.

  • How do I register my child and how do I make a payment?

You may register online on our website.

  • What is our refund policy?

A 2.9% + $0.30 deduction will be applied to any refund request. This is exactly equal to the payment processing fee we are charged when receiving your payment. As a non-profit organization, we cannot process refunds at a loss. We apologize for the incovenience this may cause.

Between April 22nd and April 30th, we will refund your registration fee, less a $35 administrative fee.

May 1st onwards, no refunds will be given.

This policy ensures we are able to keep our registration fees as low as possible. Thank your for your understanding.

  • Is there a discount if we register more than one player?

Yes. For families registering more than three players, there is a automatic coupon for 30% off.

  • Can i volunteer for the league?

Anyone aged 16+ is welcome to volunteer, as there are plenty of opportunities.
